Once you have completed this orientation the Director of Volunteers will contact you by email regarding any next steps including required background checks or training, and an initial schedule for volunteering.
How do I know when I volunteer?
Your volunteer schedule will be determined according to your availability and the needs of Family Service. Scheduling varies by program. Contact Helpline Volunteers register for shifts through an online system. Shelter volunteer schedule calendars are emailed twice a month in the ‘Volunteer Voice’ newsletter. Other volunteers will determine their schedule with their site supervisor and discuss needed changes with that person.
Most volunteers sign in when they arrive at their volunteer work location and sign out when they leave. Ask your site supervisor for the sign in location at your site. Contact Helpline volunteers’ times are automatically recorded through an online system.
